My first read by this author. I very much enjoyed her style of writing. I may have to try some of her other books!

As with so many of JC Oates' books, it seems overly topical. It was a sensitive subject dealt with from the outside, really. I never felt invested. The end, carried by a character who had been ignored throughout the novel, was a bit forced.
