Undeniably fluffy, but then again, that was exactly what I was looking for. I was a little nonplussed by the way *everyone* turned out to be minor nobility by the end of the book, but everything else was delightful.

This is an early Mary Jo Putney. It already presages her skill with characterization and complexity. Plus her prose is smooth and interesting. I read this book once before in paper and I still liked it on re-read.
