I have the side open Erod using a blackout drape that 100” wide and 17’ long. No problems. Push of a button and it automatically opens or closes. If you like, you stop it at any time if you just want to drapes partially open.

I've only had this a few weeks, but so far I love it. Its kinda noisy and slow but at this price, I can live with that.
