This could have been a true story. The writing flowed very nicely and was easy to read. Tobias was someone you cared about and felt like part of his family. The lottery was actually a very small part of the book and certainly not the most interesting part. I would read more by this author.

I really enjoyed this book. I became so attached to Tobias- really could identify with so many of his struggles. It is the story of human nature- both good and bad. I thought the writing was excellent. Would definitely recommend to others.
