This far exceeded my expectations. It's sturdy and very nicely built. Overall it was a super buy. The "shelves" are small and would not likely hold a pair of shoes, you would have to put one shoe per pocket as is shown in the photo. But the pockets easily hold slippers, sandals or flip flops....
