    Overall it was a good read. It seemed to be building up to a big climax, but I found the event to be underwhelming. Not as big as it could have been. In the end it was worthwhile for the characters that the author created and the voices that she gave them.

    Jesus, this was so true to living in an Irish Catholic family, I couldn't even believe it, and that's what bumped it up to three stars for me. Otherwise, nothing reallllly happens in this book - it's more of a character study of four generations of women & their flaws (of which there are many).
