It had me at "riding hippos." Enjoyable. Light, in spite of the story details. Liked the characters, which is what I tend to read for, and wouldn't be disappointed if there were more stories in this series.

All you need to know is that this is about an alternate America where hippos rule the swamp that was once the Mississippi River. I may be biased because hippos are my favorite animal, but I really enjoyed this book. American Hippo contains 2 novellas and 2 super short stories.
