Kung Fu Hustle / Mei Ren Yu (DVD)(2016)

The Mermaid is an action-packed and comedic martial arts adventure from director Stephen Chow, who also stars in the film.

The movie follows a greedy real estate tycoon who buys up a pristine coastal enclave, but the area is home to the last surviving mermaids who plan to stop him from destroying their oceans.

The film features wildly imaginative kung fu showdowns and dance sequences with tuxedoed mobsters, and is directed by Yuen Wo Ping, the famed action choreographer of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and The Matrix.

In a town ruled by the Axe Gang, Sing desperately wants to become a member and stumbles into a slum ruled by eccentric landlords who turn out to be kung fu masters in disguise.

The film culminates in an explosive kung fu battle between the Axe Gang and the slumlords, with only one side emerging as the greatest kung fu master of all.
