Difficult to open and close... not a good quality item.. I already see wear and tear on it and it's only been a few weeks of purchase and installing it.

This gate is not safe!! One of the little plastic pieces broken causing the gate to fall off and hit my baby in the head. It is also very difficult to open. Do not buy this gate.

I bought 1 regalo top of the stairs gate to make sure my lil' one didn't fall down the stairs. We used the hardware mounted system. We screwed it to the wall. hard to assemble and fix well. It is of poor quality

The latch is a pain in the butt. It's hard for me and my wife to close and open it sometime. You have to lift it up and put the pin in a hole. Set up was easy though. The level on top is helpful. For $40 I would think it would be easier to open and close.
