Use one like it at Myrtle Beach pier fishing every year with no problems. Bought this one as a gift.

For the price, this thing is a beast. Ive hoisted several good sized fish from the water probably 10-15 feet up onto the pier, including a ray that was probably 20 pounds, and several small 2-3 foot sharks, and it handled it like a champ.

I have many different rods for catfish and even build customs but these rods are hard to beat. I've caught fish up to 35 lbs with no problem and even prefer using these over some of my customs. For catfishing this is all you need! Would put these up against the expensive brands out there for sure
