I bought this rod to pair with a Penn #9 reel for surf fishing to be able to cast smaller baits out beyond the second sand bar. It works great for pompano, whiting, redfish, black drum, and a variety of other fish in the surf.

Handle is a good size and the medium heavy action on the 11' rod is able to launch a bait 300'. Easy access to the third bar without having to get wet. The rod loads nicely making casting easy. I bought a pair of these for shark fishing in the surf. Great selection, they are lightweight and strong enough to send big baits along with sinker out far into the surf.

I've been wishing there was a heavier 10' surf rod and now we have it. The guides are perfect for the surf and the added Winn features give it that little extra that sets it aside from all others. Probably going to replace a few of my older surf rods with these.
