Ibvb use them for everything from surf, wade, shore, and kayak fishing... Got the DX versions for the better quality gear metal...

I've got this reel specifically for casting bigger baits for large pike; it seems to be the ideal as it is plenty strong but still relatively light and castable.

I have multiple Penn 6000 & 8000 reels - typically pair them with Shimano Trevalia's or St Croix. It puts the best together for a balanced, comfortable experience to put your focus where needed -- pulling in the fish!

My Penn 10000 is a smooth casting and retrieving reel . It is my most powerful reel with fourty pound drag I will never out grow it in my living area.
